Community Group Insurance Grant

The Community Insurance Funding Streams provides local community groups reimbursement for insurance policy premiums allowing the affordability of insurance, and providing insurance policy premiums and providing insurance protection for local community and neighbourhood group members, volunteers, and participants.

The Community Insurance Funding covers the following types of insurance policies:

a. Public and Product Liability

A public and products liability policy will protect the organisation from the financial risks associated with these types of claims.  For a claim that is covered by the policy, the policy will pay the costs to investigate, defend or settle such claims and will also cover the cost of compensating the injured party.

b. Volunteers Workers Personal Accident

Volunteers Workers Personal Accident Insurance provides financial compensation and cover for defined out of pocket expenses if an accident results in the injury or death of a volunteer.

c. Association Liability

(only incorporated groups can obtain this insurance).  Association liability incorporates elements of professional indemnity cover and management liability cover to protect the misconduct, breach of duty, mismanagement and more. 

Before completing this application form, you should have read Policy 114 Community funding guidelines.

As per Policy 114, Elected Members, Town staff or relative of an Elected Member or Town staff are not eligible for funding.

This section of the application form is designed to help you, and us, understand if you are eligible for this grant.  It's crucial that you complete these questions first to ensure you are not applying for an unsuitable grant.

Confirmation of Community Insurance Eligibility

The applicant has read and understands the program guidelines and has the appropriate type of and level of insurance for the activities that are subject of this grant.

 

The applicant must be:

a.   incorporated not-for profit organisations;

b. community group or clubs;

c. artist and individuals

d. resident associations;

e. town teams or place-based groups;

f. parents and citizens (P&C) and parents and friends (P&F) associations;

g, schools (only for projects falling outside the Department of Education responsibilities); and 

h. social-enterprises 

 

Ineligibility

a. Applicants will be ineligible for a grant where the: 

b. applicant has already received a grant in that financial year. 

c. applicant has an outstanding debt to the Town. 

d. applicant has failed to submit a satisfactory acquittal for a previous grant. 

e. application is submitted retrospectively i.e.: after a project, activity and / or program has already taken place 

f. applicant has more than $10,000 in annual net profit generated from (a) core business or (b) donations or sponsorship for operational costs 

g. applicant is a religious body or political interest group or party.  

h. Applicant is a registered sole trader or business  

i. Elected Members, Town staff or a relative of an Elected Member orTown staff are not eligible.

Conflict of Interest

Are there any circumstances, arrangements or understandings which constitutes, or may reasonably by, perceived to constitute, an actual or potential conflict of interest with either the applicant's obligations to adhere to the Funding Agreement or which may unduly impact the application?  If an Elected Member works for or resides on an applicant's Board of Management, or similar governing body, this must be declared as a conflict of interest, as Community Grants will be considered by Council.
